After the purification of extracellular vesicles from plasma and a data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry (DIA-MS) analysis of the samples, Xi Zheng et al. found that phosphorylated fibronectin 1, haptoglobin, calgranulin-B and fibrinogen α chain were significantly associated with cancer progression from healthy individuals to patients with colonic adenoma and adenocarcinoma, with fibrinogen α chain being the most distinguishing biomarker [160].
