VEGFR2 staining (red) was evident in the corneal epithelia of the untreated TSP-1 KO mice that developed dry eye compared to the C− group (45 ± 5%, p < 0.01 vs. C−), and this staining was not altered in the L mice (52 ± 7%, p > 0.05 vs. C+) (Figure 5A,B). This evidence concerns the gene THBS1 and dry eye syndrome.
