Interestingly, the TACE levels and activity seem to be inhibited in renal osteodystrophy, testicular torsion, and secondary hyperparathyroidism by vitamin D [15,16,17], which deficiency has been considered as a risk factor for the development of SS-ocular complications [10,11,12,13,14,47]. This evidence concerns the gene ADAM17 and renal osteodystrophy.
