NPY is altered even between different obesity phenotypes: metabolically healthy obesity (MHO), in which the subjects present insulin sensitivity and normoglycemia, and metabolically unhealthy obesity (MUO), in which the subjects, besides having different fat distribution, also demonstrate insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, and a more inflammatory environment [11]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
