Second, the ability of homotaurine to (1) inhibit neuroinflammation in animal models of MS and autism, and (2) reduce circulating levels of IL-18 in a small clinical trial with Alzheimer’s patients, together with its excellent safety profile in a phase III Alzheimer’s disease clinical trial, makes homotaurine a promising candidate to be an adjunctive treatment for MS. This evidence concerns the gene IL18 and myeloid sarcoma.
