ACHE and Alzheimer disease: Baldinotti and others [211] reported that in a mouse model of AD induced by intracerebroventricular (ICV) infusion of STZ, intragastric pre-treatment with selenium in the form of octylseleno-xylofuranoside can prevent cognitive and memory decline that may be mediated by decreased lipid peroxidation and its modulatory effects on neurotransmission, as evidenced by changes in acetylcholinesterase and monoamine oxidase.
