Figure 3 represents a scheme of metal-induced DNA destruction in cancer existence. Extreme contact with metals such as Ni may induce DNA to destroy, mostly through DNA binding and ROS generation. Ni could also suppress the DNA destruction repair paths, with direct reverse, BER, MMR, NER, NHEJ, and HR repair.
