Cushing’s disease (CD) is a rare endocrinological disorder of endogenous hypercortisolism caused by an adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) secreting pituitary adenoma1. This condition comprises a large proportion of approximately 80% of newly diagnosed patients with Cushing’s syndrome (CS), which in turn is defined as systemic cortisol excess for any reason2. This evidence concerns the gene POMC and Cushing syndrome.
