To rule out the possibility that ANKLE1 is involved in the DNA interstrand crosslink (ICL) repair, wild‐type or ANKLE1−/− cells were depleted of FANCD2 (Figure S3g, Supporting Information), a core component of the Fanconi anemia pathway that mediates ICL repair.[27] FANCD2‐depleted ANKLE1−/− cells exhibited an exacerbated reduction of cell survival upon cisplatin treatment (Figure 3h), indicating that FANCD2 and ANKLE1 do not act in the same pathway. This evidence concerns the gene FANCD2 and Fanconi anemia.
