A recent study including a large number of metastatic breast carcinomas (n = 3871) confirmed these data, reporting the presence of PIK3CA mutations in 39% of HR+/HER2- and 37% of HER2-amplified tumors, besides 21% of triple-negative carcinomas (Albanell et al., 2019). The gene discussed is PIK3CA; the disease is breast carcinoma.
