Persistent PTH secretion may lead to secondary hyperparathyroidism, which results in osteitis fibrosa; a high-turnover bone disease resulting mainly from secondary hyperparathyroidism; and finally deterioration in bone quantity with prominent bone resorption in end-stage renal disease (Drüeke and Massy, 2016; Massy and Drueke, 2017; Liu et al., 2018; El-Husseini et al., 2022). Here, PTH is linked to stage 5 chronic kidney disease.
