Parkinson’s disease (PD) is one of the most common age-related multisystem neurodegenerative disorders, which is mainly characterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons and the production of Lewy Bodies (LBs) and Lewy Neurites (LNs) made of misfolded alpha-synuclein (α-syn) (Wakabayashi, et al., 2013; Kalia, et al., 2015; Henderson, et al., 2019; Mehra, et al., 2019). The gene discussed is SNCA; the disease is Parkinson disease.
