STIP1 and autism: Female mice which have been immunized with a mixture of immunogenic peptides from LDH-A/B, STIP1, and CRMP1 (Jones et al., 2020), or with the extracellular portion of CASPR2 (Bagnall-Moreau et al., 2020), and which subsequently form autoantibodies against these proteins during pregnancy, produce offspring with structural brain abnormalities and autism-related behavioral changes.
