The CD36 gene was identified as having the lowest expression (log2-fold change −0.48) in the group receiving a diet with CO and being enriched in the “putative pathways of oleic acid sensing in the ventromedial hypothalamus in obesity (rodent model)” and the “role of adipose tissue hypoxia in obesity and type 2 diabetes” pathways. Here, CD36 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
