Over the past decades, impressive therapeutic responses have been obtained with BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) such as imatinib, nilotinib, dasatinb, bosutinib and radotinib in the first-line treatment of CML-chronic phase (CML-CP) (3, 4), making the life expectancy of patients with CML ultimately approaching that of the general population (5). The gene discussed is ABL1; the disease is chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
