In a larger MDS RNA sequencing dataset (13), we observed an increase in the expression of multiple phosphatases, including PTEN, INPP4B, and SHIP1, in MDS patient CD34+ cells, compared to healthy CD34+ cells, which would be predicted to decrease PI3K/AKT signaling in MDS stem cells. The gene discussed is PIK3CB; the disease is myelodysplastic syndrome.
