An emerging checkpoint NKG2A, primarily expressed on natural killer (NK) cells but also tumour infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL), has been shown to bind human leukocyte antigen E (HLA‐E) which is frequently upregulated on tumour cells (André et al., 2018; Io Monaco et al., 2011; Kamiya et al., 2019).
