Previous work has indicated differential vulnerability to UCMS by sex: female mice display increased anxiety-like behaviors, increased mPFC PV mRNA, and a greater proportion of PV+ neurons in the mPFC expressing c-Fos after 4 weeks of exposure to UCMS (Shepard et al., 2016; Page et al., 2019), whereas an 8 week exposure to UCMS is required to induce a similar anxiety-like phenotype in male mice (Monteiro et al., 2015).
