Studies have indicated that a variety of CREB target genes are closely related to epilepsy including: α1 subunit of GABAA receptor, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) and N-methyl D-aspartate receptor subtype 2B (NR2B) (Wang et al. 2020). The gene discussed is BDNF; the disease is epilepsy.
