In assessing whether the testicular damage caused by ZIKV infection is associated with the presence of CLEC5A, we observed via terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) assay that testicular apoptosis in stat1−/− mice was alleviated in the context of CLEC5A deficiency (Fig. 2d). This evidence concerns the gene CLEC5A and Zika virus infectious disease.
