We found that while DEX-induced expression of AvrRpt2 alone was sufficient to trigger phosphorylation of eIF2α in an RPS2-dependent manner, Psm and Psm/AvrRpt2 had the same effect on eIF2α, indicating that eIF2α phosphorylation occurs not only during ETI but also during a successful infection (Figures S1A and S1B). Here, RPS2 is linked to infection.
