Interestingly, correlation analysis of the survival curves in patients with BCa and SRD5A1 mRNA expression levels obtained from the Dyrskjot, Hoglund, and TCGA datasets indicated that high SRD5A1 mRNA expression was negatively correlated with overall survival (Fig. 5E–G) [33–35], suggesting a tumor-progressive role of SRD5A1. However, the mRNA expression level of SRD5A2 was not different between BCa and normal tissues, and the correlation analysis showed a non-significant effect of high expression of SRD5A2 on survival (Additional file 1: Fig. S2).
