TIM3 expression is also increased on peripheral T cells from patients with alcoholic hepatitis, and in these patients, antibody co‐blockade of PD‐1 and TIM‐3 increased the numbers of bacterially‐challenged peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) producing IFN‐γ, whilst reducing IL‐10‐producing PBMCs.34 The gene discussed is PDCD1; the disease is alcoholic hepatitis.
