As demonstrated, the use of agonists or antagonists of the NGF receptor (TrkA) (Kuruvilla et al., 2004) or the NGF gene transport may improve angiogenesis and cardiomyocytes survival, thus promoting the cardiac response after a few weeks post-myocardial infarction (Meloni et al., 2010).
