INS and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: During the development of NAFLD, it is generally believed that, hepatic insulin resistance will lead to the occurrence and development of NAFLD, which seems to be partly because the liver cells lose the ability to respond to insulin, which makes them unable to effectively inhibit the production of glucose but retain the ability to drive fat production and increase new fat production, leading to abnormal accumulation of liver fat (117).
