Among these proteins that were downregulated in T2D samples, seven were mitochondrial genome encode proteins (MT-ATP6, MT-CO1, MT-CO2, MT-ND2, MT-ND4, MT-ND5 and MT-CYB), and 49 were nuclear genome encode proteins, suggesting that reduced expression of mt-aaRSs could impact mitochondrial translation in the skeletal muscle of T2D patients. This evidence concerns the gene MT-CYB and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
