Maltby VE and others, in 2018 by means of an epigenome-wide association analysis of DNA methylation in CD19+ B-lymphocytes from 24 relapsing-remitting MS patients undergoing various treatments and 24 healthy controls, observed a large differentially methylated region in the lymphotoxin alpha (LTA) locus and four other MS-associated genes: SLC44A2, LTBR, CARD11 and CXCR5, suggesting that B-cell-specific DNA-methylation may be associated with MS risk. Here, CARD11 is linked to myeloid sarcoma.
