Based on our finding of a putatively causal role of GCNT1 in IgE regulation and in asthma and allergic diseases, we hypothesize that GCNT1 and the other IgE-associated genes identified in this study are related to the pathobiology of IgE-related diseases, including asthma and allergic diseases, and that they represent compelling therapeutic targets for treatment and prevention of these disorders. The gene discussed is GCNT1; the disease is asthma.
