Though other immune effector cells like mast cells and basophils are implicated in the pathology of allergic asthma, the absence of serum allergen-reactive IgEs (by the killing of memory IgG1+ B-cells and long-lived IgE+ plasma cells) would prevent crosslinking of FcεRI bound IgE and activation of these immune cells.
