It has been shown that T helper 1 (Th1) cell-mediated immune responses and gamma interferon (IFN-γ) levels in CRC tumors are associated with a better prognosis, whereas Th17 cell-mediated immune responses correlate with a less favorable prognosis, thus highlighting the key role of the T cell response in restricting or driving tumor cell growth (15). This evidence concerns the gene IFNG and colorectal carcinoma.
