In line with this hypothesis, an analysis of PHLPP levels in different cancer tissues from the Human Protein Atlas data bank (https://www.proteinatlas.org/ENSG00000081913-PHLPP1/pathology) showed that PHLPP is highly expressed in tumors as melanoma and glioma, while its levels are negligible in some tumors, including pancreatic cancer (Supplementary information, Fig. S9a), as also suggested by an immunoblot assay (Supplementary information, Fig. S9b). This evidence concerns the gene PHLPP1 and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
