LRG1 and rheumatoid arthritis: To identify novel proteins involved in inflammation, Serada et al performed semiquantitative protein analysis on serum samples collected from patients with rheumatoid arthritis before and after treatment with anti-TNF-α antibodies and identified leucine-rich alpha 2 glycoprotein (LRG), a novel acute-phase protein.3 Subsequently, LRG was confirmed to be useful for evaluating the disease activity of IBD and was covered by the National Health Insurance System in Japan in June 2020.
