OVA-sensitized mice developed features of allergic asthma, including increased airway hyperresponsiveness to methacholine (Figure 1(a)); increased bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) total cell and eosinophil counts (Figures 1(b) and 1(c)); higher BALF concentrations of IL-4, IL-1β, and INF-γ (Figures 1(e)–1(h)); perivascular and peribronchial leukocyte infiltration (Figures 1(i) and 1(j)); and increased bronchial mucus production (Figures 1(k) and 1(l)) when compared to control mice. Here, IL1B is linked to allergic asthma.
