Transcriptomic profiling studies of gingivobuccal oral cancer (OSCC-GB) and precancer identified genes specific to pathways such as ECM–receptor interaction, cytokine−cytokine receptor interaction, focal adhesion, cell cycle, and PI3K-Akt signaling that correlated with dysregulation of the underlying molecular mechanisms in OSCC-GB, therefore enhancing the risk of transformation from precancer to frank oral cancer [16]. Here, AKT1 is linked to lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
