Although ADAM10 expression in human atherosclerosis positively correlates with disease progression and endothelial Adam10 knockdown is known to reduce leukocyte recruitment (13), endothelial Adam10 deficiency resulted in a remarkable 45% increase in atherosclerotic plaque size in the aortic root, compared to wildtype controls (Figures 1B, C). The gene discussed is ADAM10; the disease is atherosclerosis.
