APOE and atherosclerosis: Notably, intraperitoneal injections of macrophage‐derived EVs isolated from hyperglycaemic, but not control media, induced significant expansion of the common myeloid progenitor and granulocyte‐macrophage progenitor cells in both the bone marrow and spleen of ApoE−/− mice, which further augmented leukocyte counts in the circulation and contributed to accelerate both spontaneous and diet‐induced atherosclerosis (Bouchareychas et al., 2020).
