SLPI and ichthyosis: Excessive activation of NRF2, in time and extent, elicited through genetic or pharmacological intervention, caused a skin pathology characterized by a form of ichthyosis, and thickening of the stratum corneum and the epidermis, as well as an inflammatory infiltrate, and these were attributed to small proline rich proteins (Sprr2d, Sprr2h), the secretory leukocyte peptidase inhibitor (Slpi) and epigen (Epgn) upregulation.19
