The incubation of both cell lines in the presence of the S. chinantlense extract or cisplatin at IC50 showed that both treatments increased the presence of the active form of p53 in both cell lines, but while the S. chinantlense extract had a greater effect on HeLa tumor cells (16.3% vs. 6.9% in HaCaT cells), cisplatin had a greater effect on nontumorigenic HaCaT cells (29.7% vs. to 9.2% for HeLa cells) (Figure 3). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and neoplasm.
