These results may open a window of opportunity to explore the interventional strategies for other GLP-1 receptor agonists (e.g., semaglutide, dulaglutide and albiglutide) or sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (e.g., dapagliflozin and empagliflozin) in cardioprotection independent of improved glycemic control, where hypertension, cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis are the main therapeutic targets. Here, GLP1R is linked to hypertensive disorder.
