Table 1 shows the demographic and biochemical data between patients with and without type 2 DM in the PD program. Patients with type 2 DM on PD were older in years (p < 0.001), more overweight (p < 0.039), had higher body mass index (BMI) (p < 0.015), lower serum albumin levels (p < 0.016), and higher glucose levels (p < 0.003). Patients without type 2 DM presented a greater increase in urea (p < 0.035), urea nitrogen (p < 0.030), creatinine (p < 0.001), phosphorus (p < 0.024), chloride (p < 0.038), potassium (p < 0.043) and had more arterial hypertension (p = 0.022).
