The father and sons showed microcytic and hypochromic anemia, with reduced mean corpuscular volume (MCV) 66.2–68.0–70.8 fL, and mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) 21.0–22.7–21.1 pg, but a normal level of HbA2 (2.5–2.8%), while the mother had normal hematologic parameters (Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene HBA2 and anemia (phenotype).
