On the other hand, with reference to prospective trials, cabozantinib was investigated in an open-label phase II trial by Drilon et al., where 26 naïve and pretreated RET+ advanced NSCLC patients were enrolled, and 25 patients were evaluable; 23% of patients received cabozantinib as a first-line treatment, 50% of patients received cabozantinib as a second-line treatment, and 27% of patients received cabozantinib as a third or further-line treatment (all pretreated patients received prior chemotherapy regimens, but no prior RET-TKI therapies). Here, RET is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma.
