Based on the study, we found a lower percentage of CD8+ T cells expressing the CD69 molecule in patients with anti-VCA IgG antibodies and a lower percentage of CD8+ T cells expressing the CD25+ molecule in patients with anti-EBNA-1 IgG antibodies, which may indicate the limited control of the immune system in the course of EBV infection in these patients. This evidence concerns the gene CD8A and Epstein-Barr virus infection.
