VEGFA and acute myeloid leukemia: Wegiel et al. report that a statistically significant correlation between the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and of p27 was observed in bone marrows from 42 patients with AML, and further demonstrated that increased p27 expression enhances the ability of VEGF and VEGFR-2 to promote the migration of U-937 cells, suggesting a role for p27 in cell migration that might be independent of its role in the cell cycle [49].
