These properties are supported by other findings: IL6 up-regulation in cerebrospinal fluid of PD patients reversely correlates with the severity of clinical symptoms [36]; in PD, IL6 reduces the cytotoxicity of Ca2+ and ROS [36], plays a neurotrophic role for midbrain dopaminergic neurons [38], and promotes survival of oligodendrocytes [39]. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and Parkinson disease.
