In contrast, significant alterations in mRNA expression of VitD target genes involved in proliferation and differentiation, apoptosis, and inflammation were seen in the tissue of mice with HF-CAC compared to the LF-CAC groups, represented by a significant increase in Vdr, Rxrα, Rxrβ, Pxr, p21, E-cadherin, Bax, and Caspase-3 expression and a reduction in CyclinD1, Bcl2, Inos, and Il6 expression (Figure 5b,c).
