The regulating Forkhead box O3a (FOXO3a) acetylation by p300 is another mechanism involved in diabetes-induced inflammation: diabetes-induced FOXO3a acetylation prevents its binding to gene target promoters, increasing NOD-, LRR- and pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation.
