Low levels of the IgM anti-HBc can persevere in HBV chronic infection and can increase with the severity of chronic hepatitis B. Detection of anti-HBc in the blood may be used as a surrogate marker for identifying OBI in blood or organ donors, in persons who are about to receive immunosuppressive therapy, and for epidemiological studies [29]. The gene discussed is KRT88P; the disease is chronic hepatitis B virus infection.
