Curcumin enhanced the anti-CRC activity of capecitabine in HCT116 tumor xenografts in male athymic nu/nu mice through the induction of apoptosis and inhibition of angiogenesis, invasion, and metastatic factors, such as VEGF, ICAM-1, and MMP-9, and CXCR4. This evidence concerns the gene MMP9 and colorectal carcinoma.
