Ectonucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase 5 (ENTPD5) and BCL2 are proto-oncogenes, the former showing lower expression in colorectal cancer than in normal mucosa [47], while BCL2 is known to inhibit apoptosis and probably plays a role is the early phases of the adenocarcinoma development [21].
