Using our customised pipeline, we identified two FDA approved small-molecule inhibitors, allopurinol and phenytoin, that target POU5F1/OCT4 and are used to treat gout and control seizures in epilepsy, respectively (Table 2, https://www.dgidb.org/genes/POU5F1#_interactions, accessed on 3 January 2023). This evidence concerns the gene POU5F1 and epilepsy.
